montessori at home: diy color sorting activity
I had the weekend to myself while Cris took the baby to visit with his family in San Francisco. Hours and blissful hours of uninterrupted time. It was crazy. There was a lot of cleaning, a lot of design work, a lot of eating junk food I would never let Ezra eat. Amazing, really.
Saturday night, I took a couple hours to put on my current netflix tv obsession (Grey’s Anatomy…I’m so ashamed of myself), and make some montessori-inspired toys for Ezra, on the silly assumption that I would be able to get him to put down his trains for two seconds.
The first thing I made was this color sorting activity. I purchased the small wooden balls and bowls from here and then painted them five different colors. It was super easy to do, and Ezra loves them*, so I think I’ll count this one as a success.
*When I say he loves them, I mean he spent about two minutes sorting the colors and then immediately tried to balance all the balls on his train so he could fall over laughing as they rolled all over the place. Whatever works, I guess.
